For the last few years Gorebridge Parish Church have run a community Hogmanay party. Featuring a variety of acts, games, and music and it's open to the whole town. We were called in to provide lighting to add some sparkle to the evening.

A large mirrorball was the focal point of the evening, lit by two high-powered discharge lamps to send facets of light all round the room. We provided three lighting trusses, with sixteen parcans giving a colourful backdrop to the stage, and eight moving head spotlights meant it was easy for operators to get a wide range of looks for different parts of the programme. Added punch came from some Molefay "crowd blinders" which are great fun for when audience participation is required! Rounding off the package were some fan lights which emit a set of seven sharp beams of light.

All the equipment had to be in and assembled to a fairly tight schedule on the day itself. The 2009-10 event was hindered by heavy snow beforehand. The main access to the church ended up roughly 1ft deep and impassable for vehicles. We got around the problem by improvising a sled from materials in the church and dragging the equipment out to the van.
