“Jesus in the City” is a national conference, drawing
people from all over the UK who are working with churches in urban
areas. It took place in Martyr’s Church, in the centre of
Glasgow, over a long weekend in June.
The conference has a varied programme, and each of the main sessions
had a very different and unique atmosphere and style. The seating
was arranged in a circle, to give a more inclusive feel, which
demanded careful speaker positioning. The lighting had to be very
flexible, with colours and positioning changes made for the different
events.
This was the first outing for our dichroic floodlights, a new
item in hire stock. They use coloured glass, which lets different
colours pass through at different angles. The end result is a
great looking graduated colour wash. They have been very popular,
and we have since more than doubled our stock of them.
We supplied a 3500 lumen data projector for the main presentations,
and also helped delegates with various computer issues. Our staging
was well utilised, with a variety of layouts being used throughout
the weekend.
